Let us pray, "Lead, Kindly Light"--a beam will come through the dark, and a hand will be stretched forth to lead us. I always pray for you: you must pray for me. Let each one of us pray day and night for the downtrodden millions in India who are held fast by poverty, priestcraft, and tyranny--pray day and night for them. I care more to preach religion to them than to the high and the rich.

From 1893 to 1895 he earned by charging for his lectures in USA given to aristocratic American ladies. From 1896 to 1897 and from 1899 to 1900 he gave free lectures (according to his own writings) to the American elite women. According to his own admission, he spent his earnings like a "spendthrift". In India, did he preach religion to any poor? We cannot find examples.
